On December 5th and 6th, EMinS’s President, Jelica Minić participated in the Belgrade Economic Forum at hotel Metropol in Belgrade, Serbia. She acknowledged that since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, two thirds of European citizens support the expansion of the EU to the Western Balkans. “The war in Ukraine has changed the attitude of citizens in European countries, and now the support for European integration of the Western Balkans is much higher than it was,” she said at the panel “War in Ukraine: Impact on the region of Southeast Europe.” Ms. Minić stated that Poland and Spain provide the most support to the WB countries, while only slightly more than half of the citizens of France, Germany and the Netherlands are in favor of the region joining the EU. She believes that our region shows demonstrable capacity to make rapid progress in certain sectors such as IT, artificial intelligence and the development of local innovation centers.

As one of the leading events in the region of South East Europe, Belgrade Economic Forum is an annual review of Serbia’s political, economic and business developments, while it provides the analysis of the country’s role within the region and an excellent platform for communication among political, economic and business leaders in the region of South-East Europe.
