On Saturday, April 18, starting at 13:00, a pro-European rally will be held at Republic Square in Belgrade under the slogan “For a European Serbia, for Serbia in the EU.” Following the gathering, a march through the city center is planned, concluding at Slavija Square, with departure from the Ruski car.
The event is organized by the Young European Federalists (JEF) as part of the Federal Committee Congress taking place in Belgrade. The gathering is open to all citizens who share a commitment to European values, democracy, the rule of law, and fundamental freedoms.
The Delegation of the European Union has confirmed its attendance, along with representatives of EU Member State embassies and partner organizations. The organizers emphasize that the aim of the event is to send a clear and unequivocal message of citizens’ commitment to Serbia’s European path, as well as the importance of safeguarding democratic principles at a time when they are increasingly under pressure.
“At a time when democratic values across Europe are under strain, we believe it is crucial to defend them loudly, in solidarity, and with determination. This event is part of the broader ‘Democracy Under Pressure’ campaign, which seeks to protect the principles that unite us,” the organizers state.
Key messages to be highlighted during the rally include:
-Serbia’s future lies in the European Union.
-Democracy, the rule of law, and fundamental freedoms are non-negotiable.
-Young people are ready to fight for a better future.
The organizers invite everyone to join, bring friends, and carry EU flags, in order to collectively send a strong message about the importance of European integration and a democratic society.
The event will take place in a spirit of mutual respect, peace, and responsibility.
