Annual Assembly of the European Movement in Serbia Held: Strong Positioning of the Organization Confirmed as a Relevant and Credible Pro-European Actor in Serbia and the EU

April 24, 2026

The regular annual Assembly of the European Movement in Serbia (EMinS) was held on 23 April 2026, with the participation of members, representatives of governing bodies, forums, and local councils. During the annual Assembly session, the reports on the work of the Secretariat, the Forum for International Relations, the Youth Forum, and the Research Forum were adopted, confirming the continuity of work, institutional stability, and the public engagement of the organization.

Radomir Diklić was re-elected President of the European Movement in Serbia for a new term, while Dragana Đurica was re-elected Secretary General for a new term.

During the session, a substantive and constructive discussion was held on the further strategic development of the organization, its role in the socio-political dialogue, and the preservation of Serbia’s European perspective. The discussion highlighted the serious stagnation and regression of the reform process, for which the authorities in Serbia bear responsibility, as well as the increasingly challenging environment for civil society, which is exposed to more frequent pressure and attacks by representatives of the authorities.

The Assembly sent a clear message that the European Movement in Serbia, in complex socio-political circumstances, remains an open space for all those who believe that Serbia’s European future подразumeva democracy, the rule of law, media freedom, accountable institutions, consistent reforms, and social dialogue. At a time when Serbia’s European perspective has been seriously called into question, the role of EMinS is not to observe processes from the sidelines, but to continue connecting citizens, civil society, the expert public, and European partners around values and reforms that can return Serbia to a consistent path toward EU membership.

It was particularly emphasized that the European Movement in Serbia has further strengthened its position as a relevant and reliable actor both domestically and in the European arena, through intensified cooperation with European institutions, international partners, civil society organizations, and domestic social and political actors.

Relying on the work of its governing bodies, Secretariat, Forum for International Relations, Youth Forum, Research Forum, and local councils, EMinS has made a significant contribution to public debates, analytical work, and the promotion of European values.

The Assembly confirmed that the European Movement in Serbia continues to act as one of the important and credible pro-European actors in the country, with a clear mission to preserve space for European values, public dialogue, and reform processes that bring Serbia closer to membership in the European Union under complex socio-political circumstances. In the coming period, EMinS will continue to strengthen cooperation with civil society organizations, domestic social and political actors, as well as with representatives of European Union institutions and European partner organizations.
