The European Movement in Serbia hereby expresses its gratitude to all members of the Serbian diaspora who made a particularly significant and exceptional contribution to the struggle for democracy in Serbia during the recent parliamentary elections.
The great interest shown by our citizens living on all continents in participating in the elections, their activism, the unprecedented number of voter registrations, which far exceeded previous figures, the high voter turnout, as well as the creative ways in which they fought for the opening of new polling stations despite obstruction by the authorities, served as an encouragement and inspiration to citizens in Serbia as well. In doing so, our diaspora made an additional and direct contribution to achieving record voter turnout in Serbia’s elections and defeating the autocratic regime that had held the state and its institutions captive for years.
The considerable task of rebuilding the Republic of Serbia still lies ahead of us, and we continue to count on the selfless assistance and support of our people living on all continents.
Serbia must remain a country for all its citizens, wherever they may live.
