The Secretary General of European Movement in Serbia, Ms. Dragana Đurica, elected as a Member of the Board of the European Movement International

December 7, 2023

We are proud to announce that our Secretary General, Ms. Dragana Djurica, has been elected a Board Member of the European Movement International. This appointment represents both an honor and a responsibility, emphasizing the role of the European Movement in Serbia (EMinS) in contributing to a stronger, expanded Europe and increasing the prospects for Serbia’s European future.

EMinS has been a full member of the European Movement International since 1993.

The European Movement International (EMI) is an international organization open to political, economic, social, and cultural trends in civil society. EMI’s main task is to ‘contribute to the establishment of a united, federal Europe founded on the principles of peace, democracy, liberty, solidarity, and respect for basic human rights. It seeks to provide a structure to encourage and facilitate the active participation of citizens and civil society organizations in the development of a united Europe’. The EMI network includes 39 national councils, 33 national associations and three affiliate members, covering a territory from Iceland to Turkey and from Portugal to Finland. Thus, the EMI is one of the few NGOs with members in all European countries, which enables it to efficiently exchange information across Europe.

All the network’s members bring together representatives of European associations, political parties, companies, unions, and individuals.

Founded in 1948, EMI played a pivotal role in the integration of Europe. This organization acts primarily as a research group, by monitoring European trends and activities and informing the public about them, but also as an advocacy group via its members in various sectors and at various levels.
