ANNOUNCEMENT OF MENTORING WALK AND FINAL EVENT ON THE PROGRAM CYCLE 2020/2021

December 3, 2021

On Saturday, December 4, 2021, starting from 2 PM, we are traditionally organizing a Mentoring Walk in Belgrade as part of the Final Event of the 2020/2021 program cycle, with the solemn celebration of the 11th anniversary of the Share Your Knowledge program.

In Serbia, the first Mentoring Walks were held in 2008, in Belgrade and Nis, and then in Novi Sad, Kraljevo, Valjevo, Subotica and Krusevac. As part of the Share Your Knowledge program, the Mentoring Walk is an opportunity to promote a program that works on the economic empowerment and professional development of women and the exchange of views on women’s rights and equality. The Mentoring Walk  is traditionally held every year in March, on the occasion of International Women’s Day and as part of the final event of the Program in December.

The Mentoring Program for Women titled “Share Your Knowledge” started with its first annual cycle in 2010 at the initiative of the European Movement in Serbia, the Embassy of the United States of America in Serbia and the Erste Bank. The mission of OSCE in Belgrade joined a few years later. Despite the pandemic that created new social and economic circumstances in 2020 and forced activism and other civil society support activities to adapt to the new framework, the Share Your Knowledge program continued to develop and professionally empower the women in Serbia. In addition, the potential of the program was fully utilized in the online work environment and conditions were created for the expansion of the program in the region, by piloting the project in an online framework for the participation of mentors from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On Saturday, December 4, after the Mentoring Walk, a multi-hour ceremonial event will be organized to mark the 11th birthday of the Share Your Knowledge program and the end of the 2020/2021 program cycle. A formal discussion will be organized titled: “Eleven years of mentoring support for the advancement of women in society” on the contribution and results of the Program with insights of long-term associates and representatives of partner organizations: US Embassy in Serbia, OSCE Mission to Serbia and Erste Bank.

Panelists: Mirjana Sakic, Vukica Stankovic, Zorana Antonijevic, Svetlana Stefanovic; Jelena Vasilev, Tijana Jugović, Dragana Ivetić Radić, Zorana Milovanović

Moderators: Zorana Milovanović; Svetalana Stefanović

After the ceremonial discussion, a formal address of the alumni will be organized titled: “What results and what experience did the Share Your Knowledge program bring us?”, which will be opened by one of the initiators of the Program, Andrea Brbaklić. After Andrea, alumni from each of the generations will address the audience via ZOOM platform and talk about some of the most beautiful moments they have witnessed during the implementation of the Program while providing insight into the Program’s results.

After the ceremonial address of the alumni mentors, diplomas will be awarded to mentors who participated in the 2020/2021 program cycle. As the experience of the Program shows, the ending event is only the formal end of the program cycle and the beginning of cooperation in order to strengthen the women’s community and solidarity.

The Share Your Knowledge Program has been implemented by the European Movement in Serbia for 11 years in a row with the support of the US Embassy in Serbia and the OSCE Mission to Serbia.
