Citizens of Belgrade, together with young European federalists, marched for a European Serbia
Today, 18 April, the Youth Forum of the European Movement in Serbia organized a gathering at Republic Square in Belgrade, followed by a walk to Kalemegdan, under the slogan: “For a European Serbia, for Serbia in the EU.”
The event was carried out in cooperation with Young European Federalists, within the framework of the Federal Committee congress taking place in Belgrade, which brings together more than 70 young people from across Europe.
The message conveyed today was clear: Serbia should decisively continue the process of European integration, while democratic values and fundamental freedoms on which this process rests are not subject to compromise. At a time when democratic principles are under pressure across Europe, it is particularly important for young people to speak out publicly in their defense and to collectively build spaces of solidarity resisting authoritarian practices.
We extend our gratitude to all participants, partner organizations, as well as representatives of the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia and the embassies of EU Member States who supported today’s gathering. We also thank the public order authorities for ensuring that the event proceeded peacefully and in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Serbia.
The Youth Forum of the European Movement in Serbia will continue to contribute to the process of European integration and to the promotion of democratic values among young people in Serbia.
The Youth Forum of the European Movement in Serbia is part of the European Movement in Serbia (EPuS), a non-governmental and non-partisan organization that has been promoting European values and supporting Serbia’s path toward EU membership since 1992. Since 2023, the Forum has also operated as the national section of Young European Federalists.
